Hi, my name is Sam Petyt*

I've been working as a Graphic Designer for over a decade now working in a variety of professional settings - from agency to in-house and freelancing.

Based in Forres, Scotland, I help brands connect with their audience through thoughtful, progressive design. I make things that are practical, clean and charming.

*How do you pronounce that?! It’s pronounced Pet-it.

Who do I work with?

Over the years I have worked with a range of commercial and third sector clients. I enjoy collaborating with decision-makers, as part of a wider design team and working independently. I also collaborate with design studios.

What is my process?

No project or client is the same, but I do believe in following a design process. Something we can commit to and trust. My process is designed to adapt from project to project. Each project follows these fundamental steps:

    1. Discovery

Firstly, I make it a priority to get to know your business, industry and aspirations. What are your goals? Why is now a good time to work together? What are our expectations for a good working relationship? What is your budget? What are your deadlines?

    2. Proposal

If we’re a good fit, the next step is to prepare a proposal document. This details the scope and deliverables for the project, the schedule, what it requires of you and I and how much it will cost. Once the project has the green light, I’ll collect an initial deposit.

    3. Research

Now it’s time to learn about the competition and your audience. What are we up against? What brands or organisations inspire you? What does your audience expect, need and want? Depending on the scope, I promote market research as well as internal discussions.

    4. Development

This stage has the most variation. You might need a brand identity, a website, both or something else. I’ll produce a set of concepts that we’ll discuss together. I’ll gather your feedback and, based on the proposal, develop the ideas until we have the right solution.

    5. Implementation

It’s time to bring these designs and solutions into the real world. This could mean building your website, producing a brand guidelines, providing you with your design assets and creating marketing materials such as brochures and stationary.

    6. Ongoing Support

I enjoy working with clients long after our first project has finished. Good brands are always looking to develop and adapt. If you feel the same way, let’s form a long-term partnership.
